Skipper Baddrol Bakhtiar scored a brace as Malaysia inched closer to the semi-finals of the football competition with a 4-1 win over Group A whipping boys Cambodia at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium in Senayan yesterday.
Malaysia should have won by a bigger margin. But for all their possession, they just could not convert the chances. In fact, the goal-shy forwards spurned more than a dozen scoring opportunities.
Malaysia raced to a comfortable 3-0 lead at half-time with striker Izzaq Faris Ramlan opening accounts in the seventh minute before Baddrol scored from 35 metres out in the 34th.
