Umno president Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has given the clearest indication yet of imminent national polls.
Addressing the party general assembly, he outlined the new game plan for Umno in light of the changing political landscape.
The Prime Minister also prepared hopefuls, including leaders “at the pinnacle of their careers”, for any bad news while stressing the need for disappointed members to stay loyal to the party “to their last breath.”
He delved into Islamic history to stress the virtues of constancy, citing the case of the Muslim general Khalid al-Walid who stepped aside to make way for a younger man.
“This is the type of character and personality that we would like to see among the people of Umno,” he said to prolonged applause.
