The lost of the Popular local comedian

 

The very popular local comedian Zami Ismail, 67 that very well known for his character in Pi Mai Pi Mai Tang Tu and Zombi Kampung Pisang passed away yesterday due of a heart attack at the National Heart Institute (IJN).

The actor, who sought treatment for heart problem at the Ampang Hospital last month, has died at 10.30am after being warded for a week at IJN.

He leave behind wife Hanizan Ibrahim and nine children including the actor Mohd Saopi, better known as Opie, the film and drama director Mohd Latiff or Hitler.
According to the actor’s second child, 25 years old, Ahmad Yamashita Zami, his father had request to be buried at his place of birth in Tapah Road, Perak before he passed away.

According to Opie said his father was so diligent and committed to his work that he has gone to filming location even do he feel not feeling very well.

At the meanwhile, Karyawan President Datuk Freddie Fernandez said the comedian’s death was a huge loss to the local entertainment industry.

“ he (zami) supposed to have been invited as a guest for the Pesta Lawak this on Sunday that we will now hold an appreciation night in his honour instead,” he said

Zami acted almost 20 films including the two film which have not been shown, which is Husin Mon dan Jin Pakai Toncit and Shh…Dia Datang.

He won the Best Comedy Actor award at the Ninth Malaysian Film Festival (FFM9) in 1991 for his role in the film Mat Som.- The Star
