Asian markets continued to slide downwards after the morning session due to gloomy outlook for 15 European Union countries.
Nymex crude oil hovered at US$100 per barrel while spot gold fell 0.70% to US$1,710.58 per ounce.
The FBM KLCI Index fell 0.66% to 1,480.05 at its midday close, improving slightly after the morning session. The Nikkei 225 Index saw a futher drop of 1.24% to 8,588.46, the Hang Seng Index followed suit by falling 1.51% to 18,889.76 and Shanghai’s A shares index fell nearly 0.80% to 2,315.12. The Kospi Index dropped 1.04% to 1,902.88 while the Straits Times Index fell close to a percent to 2,740.58.
