Ringgit higher against US dollar

The ringgit was traded higher against the US dollar, in early trade, today on mild buying interest.

At 9.21am, the local unit traded at 3.0125/0155 against the US dollar compared with 3.0185/0215 at 5pm on Monday. Dealers said buyers showed renewed interest for Asian currencies.

Against other major currencies, the local unit appreciated against the Singapore dollar to 2.3968/4001, from 2.3979/4015, on Monday, strengthened against the British pound to 4.7808/7868, from 4.7822/7876, previously and rose against the Japanese yen to 3.6981/7036, from 3.7108/7143, yesterday.

The local unit, however, depreciated against the euro to 3.9822/9865, from 3.9804/9844, on Monday. – BERNAMA
