ON DEC 30 last year, the two-storey building of The House of Joy orphanage in Puchong was damaged by a late-night fire, leaving the premises unsafe for the 35 or so children staying there.
In the light of the coming Chinese New Year, The Gardens Mall, in collaboration with Din Tai Fung restaurant, supermarket chain Cold Storage and Japanese outlet Mochi Sweets, hosted a fun-filled day for the children, who have since been relocated to a temporary shelter at a multi-purpose hall.
The children of The House of Joy were treated to an engaging workshop where they learnt the art of preparing and cooking the Shanghainese dumpling xiao long bao under the supervision of Din Tai Fung restaurant chefs.
