JOHOR BARU: Lee Chong Wei bounced back from his Indian Open debacle by winning the Malaysia Open GP Gold 2012 singles title Sunday, beating Indonesia’s Sony Dwi Kuncoro 17-21, 21-8, 21-10.
The World No 1 started cautiously, losing the opening set 17-21. However, he fought back in the second and third sets, winning 21-8 and 21-10 for a convincing victory.
The win, his fourth straight one in the local event, will give Chong Wei a much-needed boost for the coming Olympic Games in London, where the Malaysian has been top-seeded to win the gold medal.
